@Gbenga Janet . Surd has to do with two numbers, 0ne that has exact square root and the other that do not have.Simplifying (√147-√75) / √48 follow same rule . √147 = the square root of( 49 x 3), √75 = the square root of (25 x 3) and √48 = the square root of (16 x 3).Therefore (√147-√75) / √48 = [the square root of( 49 x 3) -the square root of (25 x 3)] / the square root of (16 x 3) = Knowing the square root of 25, 49,and 16 will bring the working solution to 7( the square root of 3) -5(the square root of 3) / 4(the square root of 3) = 7-5(the square root of 3) / 4( the square root of 3) = 2(the square root of 3) / 4(the square root of 3), cancelling the square root of 3 out, we have 2/4 = 1/2.
